MFJ No. 71
The working title of the issue is “Conflict”, reflecting its focus on the urgent issues of our time: postcolonial struggles, never-ending wars, climate crises and reverberations of past authoritarianisms.
Highlights include Andrzej Jachimczyk’s confrontation with Christian Marclay’s 48 War Movies, which reshapes the raw material of Hollywood war films into an overwhelming installation; Lluís Alexandre Casanovas Blanco’s new translation of writings by Spanish filmmaker José Val del Omar; Sally Berger’s impressions of Mary Ellen Strom’s massive site-specific performance piece Standby Snow: Chronicles of a Heatwave; and gorgeous artist pages by Christina Lammer, whose practice includes her 16mm personal documentations of major surgical procedures.
As always, the Journal is a record of the ever-changing boundaries of moving image practices, and their place in the larger cultural and political forces that shape our world.
Price does not include shipping and handling.
